About Salento

Not a guide to Salento. A deeper way of seeing it.

Some of Salento’s most extraordinary stories are hidden in plain sight. In the hands of a master. In the character of a material. In a family workshop, a forgotten palazzo, a centuries-old tradition, or a new idea taking shape behind an old door.

Salento is a living atlas of Salento: the people, places, objects, materials, traditions and ideas that shape the region’s singular identity. We seek out what is exceptional, authentic and often overlooked, tracing the connections between heritage and innovation, craftsmanship and culture, memory and what comes next.

The houses are where it begins. We explore the Province of Lecce town by town, get to know the houses, the hosts and the local guides behind them, and put forward only the ones we would happily point a friend towards. Every property is checked before it goes in, and the collection stays deliberately small: the goal is to know each place well enough to recommend it with confidence, not to list as many as possible.

We are not a travel agency or a booking platform, and we do not take the booking ourselves. The difference shows in the conversation before the booking: we listen to how you want to travel, find the house that fits, and introduce you directly to the people who know it best. You book with them, and you never pay us a fee.

How it works

Three steps, and none of them a booking desk

  1. Tell us about the trip

Where you are thinking of, roughly when, who is coming and how you like to travel. A few lines are enough; a real person reads them.

  2. A shortlist, not a catalogue

We search the regions ourselves and come back with the few homes and hotels we would point a friend towards, chosen for the way you want to travel.

  3. Book directly with the owner

We introduce you to the people behind the house. The booking, the payment and the stay itself stay between you and them, with no booking fee from us.
